The Mercedes took another dive the other night due to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! goddamn asshole riding a bike without a light at night. Right into an icy snowbank. Bumper, fender, ABS sensor, and there is now a shimmy in the front end. So I am looking at some winter whips until I decide what to do about the W210 4M wagon. I have !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that was discussed earlier, an 85 Range 5 speed with issues, though I am considering an 87 Audi Coupe GT in fairly stunning condition or a 94 Toyota Previa LE Supercharged AWD in very good shape as well that I can use when renovating the house up the coast for my dad. 150K on the coupe, 160K on the Previa. I can go this weekend any buy any one of the 3 cash money, they are all pretty much the same money. What would you do? Also if you have ever seen anyone cross shop these cars before against each other, I want to see proof, because I don't know anyone weirder than me

My bike lights with batteries were under $3 and took about a minute to fit. Its genuinely amazing to me that people think theyre fine without them.

previa - we've had 2, love them both. tons of interior room, and there's a taxi company that regularly runs them into the 300,000 mile range. AWD good for winter, and interior space would make it good for other projects (like hauling a new merc bumper back from the junk yard). plus, its a good car, but you wont love it so much that you wont want to jump in your other car/s when you get the chance.

I like the Rangey, but I'm batshit crazy. That being said, a SuperPrevia? Quite rad as well.
Probably a good thing they didn't put the oil cooler on the W210 diesel in quite so dumb a place as they did on the W124, or you might have trashed that too.

oh yeah no doubt, I know of the one you are talking about. I actually found a 97 E300 the other day for $600 and was really considering the swap too...

Theyre basically asking to die. I'm usually wearing black but my bike has lights and reflectors and I tend to respect the rules of the road. Because I like to not get run over on my commute.

see the audi coupe, that's a great car, but its not very practical, and its likely less reliable, and its likely cool and attractive enough to entice you away from your other cars. you want a fill in or daily car to be good but not enticing. when you need to hit the hardware store you take the boring daily, but when you want to enjoy driving you take the fun car, and you aren't left with a conundrum every time you have to go somewhere

I know that feel. and the reason I caution against getting a fun "other" car is I've made the mistake... multiple times. And found myself deep in a project and ignoring my project. I looked practicality dead in the face and bought the toy every time.

Many cyclists are assholes. Many are also not assholes. I cycle around 100miles a week, stop at every red light, use lights and helmet etc etc.

Ditch the Range Rover, just don't do it however cool it seems. They look really shiny and exotic whenever I see them in the junkyard.
Previa would work for being a hauler. F'ing minivans though. I wouldn't be able to get over the fact that I'm stuffing my fam inside a car chassis.
Audi. The totally impractical choice. That would be mine. But then I'd go back toward the Previa and probably end up with it. But the AUDI, man, it's sporty. Looks like a Volkswagen and an Alfa got busy. Minivan would be so practical, hauling people, sliding doors, etc.
Audi it is then.

If you haven't noticed my response was highly sarcastic and I would never actually advocate murder or that cyclists are awful non-road tax paying parasites on the veins that are the road and street network that moves this country.

Cycling saves so many resources paying road tax would be a huge middle finger to every decent cyclist. Many need to learn the fucking difference between red and green but otherwise cycling is a good thing.

Though I would never buy a Previa (because minivan), you must buy one... Easily the most oppo/jalop option here!

I once saw someone riding a bicycle on a 4-lane highway around 10pm in dark clothes, no reflections, nothing. I regret not calling 911, but didn't think of it at the time. I checked the papers, but didn't see anything, so I guess they made it, lucky them.

I've had 2 Previas in the extended family, both well over 200k. I sort of like them in a "you're fucking weird but I respect you" kind of way, and the 4wd SC is the one to have.

I agree. My mom has a 95 Supercharged one, and while the heater core is toast (it's bypassed), the thing still runs to my disbelief.

I'm for a Clarksonian resolution.
If a cyclist touches your car in any way, shape, or form while he is on his two-wheeled menace, you should have the right to yell bloody murder and shoot the guy, since a bicycle can be used as a deadly weapon of mass communism.
And we all know what proper red, white and blue blooded americans do to commies.

Previa.
When I drove the 3 hours to the dealer that had the 240D I ended up buying, they also had a Previa. I almost bought that instead, but he said some guy from Utah bought it. He said between the 240D and Previa, he never had so many e-mails before and didn't understand what was so special about them.
